TBT Baseball is a nationally recognized baseball organization operating out of Boca Raton, FL. We are an affiliate organized and managed independently. Our partnership with TBT Baseball brings experience and credibility to our organizational goals.
Everyone is encouraged to tryout. If you just finished your fall season and would like to explore other options, come check us out! If you've attended other tryouts but have yet to swipe your debit card, come check us out! We know at this age talented players are already playing travel ball somewhere. So give us a shot before you recommit. We are seeking to add players of all positions to a small group of players. We have a selection process in mind, however this is a new team, so you never know how things will work out. If you are interested but cannot attend, contact Coach Miguel for private workouts. Additional details will be provided at the tryout.
Regarding the recent July 8th Tryout, all kids that made the team were called. I tried calling most of the parents, however I had some parents whose name and number was not legible due to the slight rain on Saturday. If you did not get a call, feel free to contact me as I make it a point to communicate with everyone. Ages 13U, 14U and the new 15U and 16U will have tryout on July 29th at Winter Haven High School. This even is listed as a tryout event. Those who attended on July 8th are encouraged to tryout again on the big field.
The majority of travel baseball programs up to 12U carry anywhere from 10 - 12 players. At this age, it is difficult to carry a large roster while providing reasonable playing time. Due to a limited roster size, unfortunately not everyone will be asked to join our roster. The coaching staff and trainers will assess a player's overall ability and determine if they are a good fit for the program. We are looking to fill specific positions; therefore, some players may be asked to join for specific roles. The term "good fit" includes but is not limited to a player's athletic ability, character, location, willingness to accept the role provided, etc.
We plan on having a second round of workouts after the initial selection process. The plan is to play a scrimmage game in order to access their in-game ability. This event is by invitation only and it's contingent upon on the number of players interested in joining the team.
If you are not selected to join the roster, you will hear from coach Miguel directly. This is youth baseball!!, therefore feedback will be provided. Some players may be added to our reserve list. This list consists of verified players that may be asked to play in the absence of rostered players.
TBT Patriots was established to develop players in the Central Florida area, therefore the goal is to play mostly local tournaments. We expect to play GSA, USSA and Perfect Game. We have several options for practice locations. Options include but are not limited to field practices in Winter Haven, Lakeland, Dundee and the several other confirmed locations. The exact location will depend on the overall make up of the team. Our goal is to select a confirmed location close to all families on the team. We will also have indoor facility access in Winter Haven and Lakeland area.
No. Florida baseball is a year around sport, however we encourage players to rest or participate in other activities and sports. After the season is over, we regroup as a team and come up with a new schedule. Typically, there is a Spring/Summer and Fall seasons.
This is pretty standard in the travel baseball world. We plan on two or more practices per week and two tournaments per month. Individual skill training is highly encouraged in-between team practices. Players may pick-up or guest play with other teams on our days off, however we do not recommend it. We believe weekly practices and two tournaments per month is plenty for our kids. Constant wear and tear may be counterproductive and increases the likelihood of injuries.
TBT Patriots team is sponsored, therefore there are no upfront tournament fees, membership dues or coach's fees! The idea is to remove monthly financial obligations to play competitive baseball. This also allows families to seek specialized training. As a team, we will perform fundraising activities throughout the year to cover costs.
Some of the new teams have not secured sponsorships, therefore parents will only pay costs associated with the team such as tournaments. There is no monthly fee, coach fees or additional markups as most other organizations charge. We truly are Not for profit. On average, a tournament for ages 10-12 will cost around $500 to $600 depending on the amount of games played on Sunday. $600 divided by a 12-player roster comes up to around $50. If you play two tournaments per month, that is $100 per family. There are still many families paying significantly more for the same tournaments, facilities that are hardly ever accessible and practices with hardly any repetition. That does not include the cost of additional private lessons and the never-ending commuting expense.
Winning is the goal of any competitive sport, however we perceive winning is the outcome of routine quality training. TBT Patriots will focus on teaching fundamentals and the mental game of baseball. We teach during practices so they can perform at games, not the other way around. It does not necessarily matter how great a child may be at this age, lack of fundamentals and mental preparation will eventually catch up to them. This game humbles everybody!
Truthfully, we cannot be all things to everyone, therefore a manageable roster size is important. As a result, this group will benefit from detailed training to "coach-up" the kids. We also have the support of the best local trainers in each specific area of the game. We want them ready for the big field! Believe me, at 13, the game will change!
Baseball is a competitive sport, therefore we expect kids to play hard and compete. As a coach, my goal is build them up with confidence so they can play to their full potential. We will be firm with the kids but we do not throw water coolers, shout with megaphones, body slam or meet umpires in the parking lot! Our kids are like family and will be treated with respect and love. Character is important now and it's increasingly important as they get older. For most college and professional recruiters, a prospect's character can be a difference maker.
By the way, parents!!!!!!!, you are not exempt from our code of conduct agreement either!! I like to say this is youth baseball, not the UFC!!!
Good one!! Facts, the boys picked out the team name. Its all about the kids! Apparently, they created a Patriots baseball team on MLB the Show! Sorry Mike, I did lobby for the Jets.
The skull is bit scary, but hey! we serious about baseball!
By the way, we now have the TBT Panthers under our family! We are the home of the 2023 GSA World Series Champions!
